Sajid Mollah’s thought provoking insights have been featured in numerous international journals and platforms. Through his writing, Sajid Mollah aims to foster an informed and compassionate world, dedicated to progress and well-being for all.
Sajid Mollah was born into a humble family in Saligram, a remote village in Nadia district, West Bengal. His father, Nazir Mollah, and mother, Nurjahan Mollah, played a significant role in his upbringing. He has a twin brother named Sahid Mollah. Though he never met his grandfather, a well-known storyteller in his village, Sajid's early exposure to writing and storytelling was shaped by him. Sajid’s passion for writing began early in life, with his works being published in various newspapers and magazines during his childhood. He wrote under different pseudonyms in popular Bengali publications such as Shiladitya, Puber Kalom, and Nava Kallol.
In 2014, his poem Eso Tumi was published in Puber Kalom, marking the first major publication of his work in a widely recognized Bengali newspaper. Despite his love for literature, his academic pursuits followed a different path. Sajid completed his secondary education (Madhyamik) in 2012 and higher secondary education in 2014. In 2017, he graduated with honours in Geography from the University of Kalyani, despite the subject being against his natural inclinations. His passion for writing continued throughout this period, but his focus began to shift towards non-fiction.
After completing his graduation, Sajid moved to Kolkata in 2017 to prepare for the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) examination, under family pressure. This marked a turning point in his life. During his civil services preparation, he developed a keen interest in Indian economy and polity, particularly public finance. His growing fascination with these subjects led him to enrol in the Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) to pursue a degree in economics. It was during this period that Sajid realised fiction, while artistic and beautiful, could not drive the societal change he was passionate about. He transitioned entirely into non-fiction writing, focusing on research that would bring real-world issues to light.
Since 2019, Sajid has been consistently publishing his non-fiction work in various internationally recognised magazines and websites. His writing delves into economic inequalities and the flaws in governmental policies that favour the elite. He has become a strong advocate for policies that benefit the majority of society, rather than the privileged few.
Sajid’s work is not limited to India; he considers himself a global writer, aiming to highlight economic and societal injustices worldwide. His decision to give up fiction stems from his belief that entertainment is a form of mockery in a world where most people live in misery and pain. He has devoted himself to writing non-fiction that benefits society, addressing real-world issues and offering insights into public finance and economic reform.
His work includes the publication of numerous research papers in various journals. His articles are published in renowned online periodicals, where he explores topics related to economics, public finance, and the struggles of the common man. Sajid's main objective is to increase awareness of the systematic disparities brought about by government policies that cater to the wealthiest 1% while neglecting the needs of the broader population.
Sajid is deeply influenced by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s philosophy: “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” This quote encapsulates his life’s mission, which is to use his writing and research to make a positive difference in society. His passion for public finance stems from his belief that governments have a responsibility to create policies that promote the welfare of all citizens, not just a select few.
Sajid Mollah is a strong supporter of democratic socialism, a political doctrine that emphasises the necessity for social and economic equality achieved by democratic methods.
His beliefs are firmly anchored in the belief that governments should prioritise the well-being of the great majority of people, particularly the economically disadvantaged, over the interests of a wealthy elite.
Mollah supports policies that ensure equitable resource allocation, increased government investment in public services, and fair taxation systems that benefit the working class and poor.
In addition to his support for democratic socialism, Mollah is vehemently opposed to radical nationalism.
He believes that radical nationalist ideas, which frequently falsify history and incite division, constitute a serious threat to social cohesion and economic success.
Mollah contends that such movements advocate exclusionary policies that benefit a select few while marginalising minority communities and increasing economic inequality.
He is particularly critical of the growth of radical nationalism in India under the BJP leadership, pointing out the hazardous link between nationalism and economic policies that disproportionately benefit the wealthy at the expense of the general public.
Mollah's political ideology shows his conviction in the value of human dignity and compassion. He envisions a society in which governments uphold justice and equality, allowing all citizens to thrive, regardless of social or economic status.
His support for democratic socialism and resistance to radical nationalism have become major themes in his writing and activism, guiding his attempts to expose injustice and push for a more equal society.
How Will This Hell Turn Into Heaven: A Political and Economic Review (2024)
On 30th August 2024, Sajid Mollah released his landmark book, *How Will This Hell Turn Into Heaven: A Political and Economic Review*, an extensive and bold analysis of global inequality, political failures, and the imbalances between the wealthy elite and the suffering majority.
The book, available globally across various e-commerce platforms and bookstores, presents a fresh and powerful perspective on the pressing issues of the modern world.
In this comprehensive work, Mollah delves into the heart of contemporary economic and political structures, exposing the harsh realities that affect 99% of the global population.
His book uncovers the root causes behind the skyrocketing cost of living, rampant inequality, and growing poverty in many countries, including India. He critiques the failure of governments to serve their people, showing how they favour the wealthiest 1% while leaving the masses to struggle.
Mollah lays bare the devastating effects of unchecked capitalism, corrupt governance, and radical nationalism, explaining how these forces have created an unsustainable world where deprivation and suffering are the norm for most people.
One of the book's central themes is the global nature of these crises. Mollah connects the dots between the rise of fascism in Modi's India, capitalist-driven false economic growth, and the dangerous concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few. His analysis shines a light on the illusion of economic progress in countries boasting about being the "5th largest economy," when, in reality, most of their citizens continue to live in poverty. Mollah challenges this narrative, showing that so-called growth does little to improve the lives of ordinary people, deepening the divide between the rich and poor.
In a key section of the book, Mollah focuses on the causal link between inequality, corruption, and unemployment, revealing how these interconnected issues perpetuate a cycle of poverty and exclusion. He examines the policies of the BJP government in India, drawing parallels with similar situations worldwide, and explores how radical nationalism and historical revisionism distort reality and create dangerous precedents.
In contrast, Mollah offers a vision based on democratic socialism and the concept of a "humane economy" that prioritises people over profits. His ideas are backed by real-world case studies and examples, showing how such principles can lead to lasting positive change.
The second half of *How Will This Hell Turn Into Heaven* moves from analysis to action, outlining practical solutions to the global crises Mollah describes. He lays out a roadmap for creating a fairer, more just society, drawing on principles from British Fabian Socialism and the philosophies of Rabindranath Thakur and Jawaharlal Nehru.
Mollah calls for governments to implement policies that prioritise the common good, invest in public services, create fair tax systems, and ensure wealth is distributed equitably. By doing so, he argues, the world can move from the current "hell" to a "heaven" where 99% of people thrive, not just the privileged few.
Mollah's book is not just an academic or theoretical work but a call to action. He encourages readers to join a movement for change, arguing that by embracing democratic socialism and the humane economy, society can build a future where fairness, justice, and prosperity are realities for all, not just ideals.
His book is a rallying cry for those seeking real solutions to the problems ignored by governments and is positioned as a guide for creating meaningful change.
*How Will This Hell Turn Into Heaven: A Political and Economic Review* has quickly gained international attention for its bold critique of the status quo and it's compelling vision for a better future. It is a must-read for anyone looking to understand the root causes of today’s global crises and seeking actionable solutions.
